Interview: going to know... UVball

1. What’s the name of your business, what do create and sell?
Il mio alter ego/laboratorio creativo è La Matassa Ultravioletta; qui creo filati fatti a mano e accessori a maglia. In realtà lavoro fibre naturali dalla tintura alla cardatura e poi alla filatura e al lavoro a maglia e vendo sia capi finiti che filati.

My alter ego/creative lab is La Matassa Ultravioletta – Uvball; here I spin my own yarns and knit my garments. Actually I love handling natural fibres from dyeing to carding, then spinning and knitting, and I sell both finished accessories and yarns.

2. What are your inspirations in your art and life?

Le mie ispirazioni sono diverse, non saprei anzi elencarle, perchè a volte arrivano dalla natura, dal mare vicino a casa, dagli alberi; a volte sono sensazioni che emergono mentre lavoro e dalle fibre stesse, a volte vengono dalla mia città, da cose che vedo passeggiando, da un buon libro o dalla mia famiglia… funziona soprattutto così: vedo qualcosa, mi scattano emozioni, inizio a maneggiare fibre e filati.

My inspirations are many, wouldn’t be able to list them, because sometimes they come from nature, from the sea near home, the trees; sometimes they’re sensations emerging when I work, or from fibres themselves, sometimes they come from my town, from things I see walking around, from a good book I read o r my family… It often works like this: I see something, emotions rise, I start handling fibres and yarns.

3. Do you listen to music while you create? If so, what?
No, di solito mi piace stare in silenzio mentre creo

No, I usually prefer silence when I create.

4. What is your studio or work space like?
Veramente è piuttosto un angolo nel salotto della mia micro casa, in cui ho ammassato tutte le mie cose, e che puntualmente strabordano e sconfinano sulla scrivania accanto al pc, sul divano, sul tavolo.

Actually it’s a corner in the living room of my tiny home, where I stock all my stuff, that easily bumps out and ends onto my PC station, on the sofa, on the table…

5. What 3 things can’t you live without?
Maneggiare la lana e avvolgermici ai primi freddi.
Almeno Una tazza di ottimo tè al giorno.
Libri, e viaggiare nelle storie che leggo.

Handling wool and wrapping myself with that at first chills.
At least one cup of quality tea in the day.
Books, and wandering inside the stories I read.

6. What is the best creative advice you have been given?
Avere pazienza, imparare ad avere fiducia nel proprio intuito e non scoraggiarsi se il primo risultato non è quello che si immaginava, anche perchè non significa che non sia comunque un pezzo di qualità, questo è il bello della creazione artigianale!

Being patient, learning to trust on my intuition and not being discouraged if the first attempt doesn’t resemble my idea, also because that doesn’t mean I made a qualtity item, this ‘s the awesome character of handmade crafts!

7. What’s new? Any products or projects you’d like to share?
I miei ultimi sforzi creativi riguardano la tintiura, ho ancora molto da imparare in questa pratica, ma ho già iniziato a vendere qualche filato ottimo.

My last creative skills are endeavoured in dyeing, I still have a lot to learn about that; though I’ve already a few lovely yarn for sale.

This is the time of the year in which people start to think at Christmas gifts, and so don't miss the opportunity to create something suitable for this.
We are in autumn, soon we will be in winter, and the nature can inspire our creations.
First of all take a look at the forest and at the woodland : every shades of green is wonderful and also everything you can find in this period like holly, branches, pine and acorns.

Prima di iniziare a creare qualcosa non dimenticate di dare un'occhiata alle mode del momento.
In questo periodo dell'anno la gente inizia a pensare ai regali di Natale e non perdete l'opportunità di creare qualcosa di adatto.
Siamo in autunno, e presto saremo in inverno, e la natura può ispirare le nostre creazioni.
Prima di tutto diamo un'occhiata alla foresta e al bosco: qualsiasi tonalità di verde è bellissima e così tutto quello che potete trovare in questo periodo come agrifoglio, rami, pini e ghiande.
Non dimentichiamo i piccoli abitanti della foresta come scoiattoli, cervi e uccelli.
In questo periodo molti di noi iniziano a vedere i primi fiocchi di neve : i colori che ricordano la neve e il ghiaccio sono aqua, bianco e cristallo trasparente.
Un altro bellissimo colore ispirato dalla natura è il color prugna.
Durante le feste di Natale sarà piacevole indossare qualcosa di elegante in nero, bianco o rosso; e vestiti e accessori con lustrini per notti scintillanti.
Un altro tema molto di moda è quello che riguarda la vita attenta all'ecologia.
Non dimentichiamo la pietra di chi è nato nel mese di Dicembre: il turchese (non pensate che il turchese sia un colore solo estivo: turchese e grigio o nero sono due perfetti abbinamenti).
Cosa state aspettando? E' tempo di creare qualcosa alla moda!

Plan ahead for this busy December

Are you ready to face this busy and demanding December? Your shop has the necessary stocks for sales in coming?
-The important thing is to plan everything you need for your shop: making the stock of supplies, to have more possible objects in your shop, if necessary, buy the double of what you buy usually,
if you're afraid of forgetting something, or confusion, write everything on a notepad!
-Create multiple of each item, if possible, it saves time, allows you to relist an item without remaking pictures and description, and re-create an object already done so, the process is faster.
-Keep it clean and tidy your creative space, keep the tools you need at your fingertips.
-When there are slow days, do not waste time, use it to make new pictures, new stock and upgrade your shop; Keep in mind people are looking and preparing to buy, and they will probably come back all at once. Don’t let your customers catch you off guard, be prepared for business well into January.
-Use all your free time to do more, these are the most productive months, you'll have more time for yourself after the winter season.
-Do not list items that you have not already done so, if possible, it is best to list items ready to ship.
If you accept custom orders, write in your shop announcement the amount of time to do it, and also communicate to your customers, they will be pleased to know when their item is ready.
-Keep up with the shipment. Send up to 4 times a week if you must, your customers are more compelled to buy, if they need it for the holidays, and you have a fast service.
-if you have many sales in one day, print out your orders, it gives you the view of every order and address ready for shipment, so you can not go wrong item or address.
Although the holidays may seem like a lot of work and mess, but this is the season that each Etsy seller, wait!
We will all have time to rest after the winter season!

Sei pronto per affrontare questo occupato ed impegnativo dicembre? Il tuo shop ha le scorte necessarie per le vendite in arrivo?
-La cosa importante è pianificare tutto ciò che serve per il tuo shop: fare la scorta di materiale, per avere più oggetti possibili nel tuo shop, se necessario, comprare il doppio, di quello che compri di solito; se hai paura di dimenticare qualcosa, o di fare confusione, scrivi tutto su un blocco note.
-Crea multipli di ogni oggetto, se è possibile, è un risparmio di tempo, ti permette di rimettere in vendita un oggetto senza rifare foto e descrizione, e ricreare un oggetto già fatto, il processo è più veloce.
-Tenere pulito e ordinato il tuo spazio creativo, tenere gli strumenti di cui hai bisogno a portata di mano.
-Quando ci sono giorni lenti, non perdere tempo, utilizzalo per fare foto nuove, nuova scorta ed aggiornare il tuo shop
tieni in mente che le persone cercano, e si preparano a comprare, e potrebbero tornare tutte in una volta, non farti prendere alla sprovvista, tieniti attivo fino il mese di Gennaio.
Utilizza tutto il tuo tempo libero per fare di più, questi sono i mesi più produttivi, avrai più tempo per te stesso dopo la stagione invernale.
-Non mettere in vendita oggetti che non hai ancora fatto, se è possibile, è meglio elencare oggetti già pronti per la spedizione.
Se accetti ordini personalizzati, scrivere nel tuo shop annuncio il lasso di tempo per farli, e comunicarlo anche ai tuoi clienti, che loro saranno felici di sapere quando il loro oggetto sarà pronto.
-Tieni il passo con la spedizione. Spedisci anche 4 volte a settimana se è necessario, i tuoi clienti sono più spinti a comprare , se ne hanno bisogno per le vacanze, e tu hai un servizio veloce.
-se hai molte vendite in un giorno, stampa i tuoi ordini, ti dà la visuale di ogni ordine e l'indirizzo già pronto per la spedizione, e così non puoi sbagliare oggetto o indirizzo.
Anche se le vacanze possono sembrare con un sacco di lavoro e disordine, ma questa è la stagione che ogni etsy seller, aspetta!
avremo tutti tempo di riposare, dopo la stagione invernale !!
