We thought to dedicate the next challenge to the "Earth day", on 22th April. The Hearth day is celebrated in spring in the Northern emisphere, and in autumn in the Southern emisphere. The first time was in 1970, to highlight the need for conservation of natural resources of the Earth.
The rules of the game are:

- you have to be a member of Etsy Italia Team;
- you have to create and list a new item in your Etsy shop, inspired by the theme;
- you have to list your new item on April 13th.
- the game starts now and will end at 22.00 of April 13th;
- convo me your entry (the link of your list on Etsy) at I bijoux dello Stregatto on Etsy.

Abbiamo pensato di dedicare il prossimo challenge alla "Giornata della Terra" il 22 Aprile. La giornata della Terra si celebra in primavera nell'emisfero nord e in autunno nell'emisfero sud.
La prima volta che è stata celebrata è stato nel 1970, per mettere in evidenza la necessità della conservazione delle risorse naturali della Terra.

Le regole del gioco sono:

- devi essere un membro dell'Etsy Italia Team;
-devi creare e mettere in vendita nel tuo Etsy shop, un nuovo oggetto, ispirato al tema;
-devi mettere in vendita la tua nuova creazione il 13 Aprile;
-il gioco inizia oggi e finisce il 13 Aprile alle 22.00;
-mandami una convo su Etsy con il link alla tua creazione a I bijoux dello Stregatto.

Tips and tricks: How to take wonderful pictures

COSA OCCORRE:
- cartoncino bianco formato A3 o più grande (o in sostituzione un lenzuolino bianco che va prima stirato!)
- lampada da scrivania direzionabile
- lavagnetta di sughero e puntine da disegno (o in sostituzione qualche pallina di patafix o qualcosa che possa comunque fissare il cartoncino o il lenzuolino alla parete)
- cavalletto piccolo (non è necessario ma può essere mooooolto utile!)

STEP 1: Fermare un lato corto del foglio (o lenzuolino) con delle puntine da disegno e lasciare scivolare l’altro lato corto sul piano, in modo da creare una curva (nel caso del lenzuolino, fissare anche l’altro capo – ad esempio con delle mollette fissate al bordo della scrivania – in modo da tenerlo leggermente tirante e non creare pieghe).
STEP 2: direzionare la luce della lampada sul foglio in modo che arrivi frontalmente.

STEP 3: Andare nelle impostazioni della fotocamera la funzione “BILANCIAMENTO DEL BIANCO” (solitamente io uso la reflex, ma ovviamente non tutti ce l’hanno! Ho controllato nella mia compatta che ha circa 7 anni e la funzione c’è, quindi penso che dovrebbero averla anche le altre!) e scorrere fino a “PRE-MISURATO” o “MISURA” e a questo punto vi verrà chiesto di scattare una foto o di inquadrare qualcosa e premere OK: puntate la macchina contro il foglio bianco illuminato (senza avvicinarvi troppo perché potreste creare delle ombre) in modo che il display sia completamente bianco e a questo punto scattate (o premete OK).

STEP 4: Posizionare l’oggetto sulla parte di foglio che poggia sulla scrivania, stando attenti a non creare pieghe.
STEP 5: Disattivare il flash!!!!
STEP 6: Mantenere la luce SEMPRE direzionata frontalmente. Scattare le foto agli oggetti mantenendo la macchina sempre nella stessa posizione (in caso usate un cavalletto) ed evitate di girare attorno all’oggetto per fotografarlo da varie angolazioni: girate l’oggetto invece!

Ricordate di non avvicinarvi troppo altrimenti si verranno a creare delle ombre che andrebbero a compromettere la luminosità e i colori della foto!!!
Se dovete fotografare oggetti molto piccoli a distanza ravvicinata, usate la funzione MACRO (il simbolo col fiorellino) ma ricordate di non creare ombre!!!!!

Questa è una foto laterale del “set”: per reggere il mio oggetto ho posizionato dietro un soprammobile più piccolo dell’oggetto in modo che non si veda e in modo che direzionando la luce frontalmente, non si vedrà l’ombra del soprammobilino ma solo l’ombra dell’oggetto fotografato!

WHAT WE NEED:
- white cardboard A3 paper format or more (or a white ironed sheet)
- adjustable desk lamp
- cork board and pins (or a little amount of Patafix)
- little camera tripod (useful)
STEP 1: Fix up one of the short sides of the cardboard (or sheet) with some pins and let the other short side bend and lay on a desk (if you use a sheet, fix also the other side with pins).
STEP 2: Adjuste the lamp so that the light comes in front of the item we need to take picture.
STEP 3: Look for "WHITE BALANCE" (WB) in camera settings (usually all the cameras have this setting) and then look for “MEASUREMENT FUNCTION”. When the camera asks to take a picture, push button OK: point the camera towards the cardboard until the display is white and click.
STEP 4: Put the item on the lower cardboard.
STEP 5: Make you sure that the flash is disabled!!!
STEP 6: Light has to point always on the front. Take pictures with tha camera always fixed in the same position. If you want to take pictures of the item from different views, turn the item, not yourself!

Remember to stay quite far from the item, otherwise you create shadows that may compromise light and colours of the picture!
If you have to take pictures of very small items from a short-distance, use MACRO function (the flower symbol) and remember: no shadows!
The one above is a side picture of the "set": to fix the item I have put a smaller item, hidden in a way that it cannot create shadows.

Euro Week

Etsy si espande. Il primo passo è verso la "cara vecchia" Europa, con l'apertura del primo ufficio internazionale a Berlino il 1 aprile 2010.
Per festeggiare, Etsy diventerà europea per una settimana, dal 22 al 27 marzo 2010 durante la quale verranno celebrati le arti e gli artisti del "vecchio" continente attraverso Front Page dedicate, email, Featured Sellers, eventi e tante informazioni su come far diventare il proprio negozio globale.
Cosa fare in concreto?
1 – Aggiungere il tag Europa (Europe) sia al profilo che a tutti gli oggetti del nostro negozio, credo sia meglio aggiungere anche il tag Italia (Italy) dal momento che sono previste molte Treasury a tema.
2 – Ampliare la quantità di nazioni verso cui spedire o, meglio, spedire a livello internazionale.
3 – Creare Treasury a tema inserendo artisti europei, gli admin di Etsy le vaglieranno per la Front Page.
4 – Per chi ha Twitter: pubblicizzare la settimana europea utilizzando il tag #EtsyEuro.
5 – Per chi ha un blog: postare articoli sull'arte e gli artisti europei
