Secrets and tips on how to make a treasury...

Would you like to be chosen for the home page of etsy?
There are many ways to be considered for the front page of Etsy:
being an active member, have beautiful photos and professional, have personality, but also make many treasury...

Here are some secrets that I gathered in the Etsy forums:
- First of all choose a theme and a title for your treasury.
Can be a color scheme, seasonal festivity or anything else which makes the list interesting.
There are tips on Storque articles about current trends too:)
You can compose a preview of your treasury, in the poster sketch
- It looks like treasuries which don't have an item from curator's own shop have better possibilities...
- try not to include your item, in the Treasury,
if your treasury is chosen for the frontpage your item will be removed from the admin
- One thing to consider is to put together items with several price points.
Try to include at least one item in high price range (around 100 USD or above) among several around 30-70 USD with few which are less expensive.
It is because admin seldom picks a treasury for FP if there are too many items in, say 10-20 USD price range. They simply sell too fast. Also, make sure to fill in all alternatives!
- Views and clicks and comments make your treasury "hotter",
so if you have a lot of those your treasury gets a better ranking and hopefully gets seen more.
- Even if a treasury wont make FP it is always much appreciated by fellow Etsians who have been included in one:)
- try to switch items in the treasury, as not only jewelry and bags, but try to vary with the different categories
- always try to return the favor, and the others will do with you, with time...

Ti piacerebbe essere scelto per la home page di Etsy?
Ci sono molto modi per essere preso in considerazione per la front page di Etsy:
essere un attivo membro, avere foto belle e professionali, avere personalità,ma anche fare molti treasury...

ecco alcuni segreti che ho raccolto nel forum di Etsy:
-Prima di tutto scegliere un tema ed un titolo per il tuo treasury, che può essere per colore, festività stagionali, o qualsiasi cosa renda la composizione interessante.
Ci sono anche molti consigli nello storque, dei vari temi correnti...
Puoi comporre l'anteprima del tuo treasury, nel poster sketch
-cercare di non includere un tuo oggetto nel treasury,
se il tuo treasury viene scelto per la frontpage il tuo oggetto verrà tolto dagli admin
-Una cosa da considerare è quello di mettere insieme gli elementi con diversi punti di prezzo.
Cercare di includere almeno una voce nella fascia di prezzo alta (circa 100 USD o superiore) la maggior parte di circa 30-70 USD, ed alcuni meno costosi.
È perché gli admin prendono raramente un tesoro per la FP se ci sono troppe voci, diciamo fascia di prezzo 10-20 dollari. Semplicemente perchè vanno vendute troppo in fretta. Inoltre, assicurarsi di riempire tutte le alternative!
-Visite, commenti e clic rendono il vostro tesoro "Hotter",
quindi se hai un sacco di click, il tuo Treasury ottiene un miglior posizionamento e, auspicabilmente, si vede di più.
-Anche se un tesoro non viene scelto per la FP è sempre molto apprezzato dai tuoi Etsians colleghi che sono stati inclusi in uno:)
-cercare di alternare gli oggetti nel treasury, esempio, non solo gioielli e borse, ma cercare di variare con le varie categorie
-cercare di ricambiare sempre il favore, e gli altri lo faranno con te, con il tempo...

Interview: going to know... Pirillinca

1. What's the name of your business, what do you create and sell?

My teeny tiny business is called La Pirillinca, it's a strange name, it comes from a limerick a friend told me in High School.
I create various things, I started years ago making candles (that I don't make anymore, even if I like it and I still have tons of wax at my parent's home), then I started making felt, that I still enjoy, but I don't have enough space a the moment to do it (and also have tons of wool at my parent's home), then I started making things with Pirkka Paper (Twistart) and I started sewing too, I didn't get bored with them yet! I'm constantly brainstorming and trying to find new ideas.
At the moment I'm thinking about opening a new shop on Etsy only about fabric items, because I'd like to differentiate better my items. Of my actual shop I don't like that I have all different things, I'd like to have a better recognizable style.

Il mio minuscolo business si chiama La Pirillinca, questo nome strano viene da una filastrocca che un amico mi disse al Liceo.
Creo oggetti diversi, ho cominciato anni fa con le candele (che non faccio più anche se mi piaceva e a casa ho ancora tonnellate di cera), poi sono passata al feltro che mi piace ancora fare, ma al momento non ho abbastanza spazio per mettermi all'opera (e a casa dei miei ho altre tonnellate di lana), poi mi sono data alla carta Pirkka (Twistart) e al cucito, di questi ancora non mi sono annoiata! Sono in un continuo brainstorming per cercare nuove idee.
Al momento vorrei aprire un nuovo negozio con solo oggetti in stoffa, perché vorrei differenziare meglio i miei oggetti. Del mio negozio non amo il fatto che siano tutte cose diverse, vorrei avere uno stile più riconoscibile.

2. What are your inspirations in your art and life?

I'm inspired by everything, actually. It could be nature as well as other people's work. I don't mean to copy other's people work, but when I see a good picture or well made items I really want to improve my work and the only thing I think about is: I want be successful as him/her, I have to do more for my shop because it's the only thing I want.

L'ispirazione me la dà tutto, in realtà. Può essere la natura come il lavoro degli altri artigiani. Con questo non intendo dire che copio il lavoro di altri, ma quando vedo una bella foto o degli oggetti fatti veramente bene voglio davvero migliorarmi e l'unica cosa a cui penso è: voglio avere successo come questa persona, devo sforzarmi di fare di più per il mio negozio perché questa è l'unica cosa che voglio.


3. Do you listen to music while you create? If so, what?

Sometimes. Usually I turn on the tv and listen to the tv programs. If I listen to music, in these days I'm listening to Django Reinhardt and Camille a lot.

Non sempre. Di solito accendo la tv e ascolto i programmi. In questo periodo mi piace ascoltare molto la musica di Django Reinhardt e Camille.

4. What is your studio or work space like?
I don't have one!! I live in a single room apartment, I have a long desk, boxes and some drawers where I keep my stuff, but when I work I use the table of my kitchen (which kitchen?? it's only one room! LOL). I'm looking for a small table to put in the balcony (tiny balcony) so I could work outside. When I lived with my parents it was lovely to work outside in the garden, nature really makes me concentrate more then anything else.

Non ce l'ho uno studio!! Vivo in un monolocale, ho una scrivania molto lunga, scatole e qualche cassetto dove tengo le mie cose, ma quando lavoro uso il tavolo della cucina (quale cucina se è solo una stanza??LOL). Però sto cercando un tavolino per il (mini) balcone così posso lavorare all'aperto. Quando vivevo con i miei era bellissimo lavorare fuori in giardino, la natura mi fa concentrare più di ogni altra cosa.
5. Which are the 3 things you can't live without?

My fiancé (but he's not a "thing"!)

6. What is the best creative advice you have been given?

I was always told (and I think so too) that pictures are the main thing you have to improve if you're running an online business. If you have beautiful pictures people are more attracted from your shop for different reasons. First, if you show the item in the best way, people will know how it actually looks without having to see it in person. Second, if people think you have good taste in making pictures, they'll probably think you have good taste on making things too, so buying from you couldn't be the worst thing to do! (Talking about good pictures, take a look at these four italian artists: Samyii, Betsy3, Sumikoshop, Fruccidesign.

Mi è sempre stato detto (e così penso anche io, in effetti) che le fotografie sono la prima cosa da rendere perfetta quando vendi on-line. Se hai belle foto le persone saranno più spinte a comprare da te per diverse ragioni. Primo, se mostri un oggetto al suo meglio, le persone sapranno esattamente come è in realtà senza doverlo vedere dal vivo. Secondo, se le persone vedono che hai buon gusto nel fare le foto, probabilmente penseranno che hai anche buon gusto con gli oggetti che fai, quindi non dev'essere male acquistare da te! (A questo proposito vi consiglio di dare un'occhiata a queste quattro artiste italiane: Samyii, Betsy3, Sumikoshop, Fruccidesign.)


7. What's new? Any products or projects you'd like to share?
As I said before, I'd like to run a new shop where you can find only fabric items, and the old one could remain for the rest or vice versa.
I have an idea in mind from a lot of time, but I need to find good towel fabric...
This month I started two limited edition mini-series of pincushions, they're available from mid July in my Etsy shop, check them out !

Come ho detto prima, mi piacerebbe aprire un nuovo negozio solo per oggetti in stoffa, e mantenere quello vecchio con il resto o viceversa.
Ho in mente un'idea da molto tempo, ma devo trovare ancora una buona stoffa da asciugamani...
Questo mese ho cominciato due mini serie in edizione limitata di puntaspilli, sono disponibili da metà luglio nel mio negozio Etsy, venite a trovarmi!
