INTERVISTA: Getting to Know... Oggettismarritishop!

1)Qual è il nome del tuo negozio, cosa crei e vendi? 

Siamo Franca e Verdiana, mamma e figlia che gestiscono Oggetti Smarriti-made in toscana-. Su Etsy potete trovarci al nome oggettismarritishop dove vendiamo le nostre sciarpe, spille, borse, cappelli, guanti, sedie e…quello che ci passa per la testa!

2)Qual è la tua fonte di ispirazione nell'arte e nella vita? 

Prendiamo ispirazione da tutto ciò che ci circonda: amici, film, moda ma principalmente da materiali o tessuti particolari che ci riportano alla mente i bei ricordi, ci piace creare oggetti che possano trasmettere una sensazione di familiarità e calore alle persone che le possiedono.

3)Ascolti musica quando crei? E se sì, quale? 

La buona musica pop ci mette sempre di buon umore ma ci piace anche ascoltare il silenzio.

4) Com'è il tuo studio o spazio creativo?

Molto molto “incasinato”! Principalmente perchè non abbiamo ancora un vero e proprio studio, teniamo tutti i materiali in grandi scatole per tutta la casa e usiamo il tavolo della cucina per assemblare tutto. (Mentre i nostri due gatti giocano intorno…)

5)Quali sono le 3 cose di cui non puoi fare a meno? 

La famiglia, il buon cibo e l’ispirazione creative.

6)Qual è il miglior consiglio sulla creatività che ti è stato dato? 

Non arrendersi mai! (anche quando l’ispirazione sembra persa o le capacità creative sono in stand-by…)

7) Qual è la novità, il prodotto o progetto che ti piacerebbe condividere con noi?

Stiamo cercando di migliorare la nostra pagina Facebook e tenerci in contatto con i nostril fans (ma ci mancano tanto le lettere di carta e i telefoni a disco!) e stiamo lavorando su nuove borse per la primavera e l'estate.

Cooking with the crafters #7 - Carnival of Venice's Sweet Treats

The culinary adventure of “Cooking with the Crafters” goes on thanks to AliceCouture and some typical Venice’s Carnival treats! Last week we enjoyed “Fritoe”. This week Alice presents:

Galani
(or Chiacchere -chit chats, literally- or Crostoli)

Another typical sweet treat of Venice’s Carnival are Galani.
As you may notice from the title above, they have several different names, depending from the zone where they are produced.
Some academics reckon the origins of this treat to be really old, even going back to Ancient Rome times! We think, in fact, that Romans, during the celebrations for the upcoming spring, used to prepare sweets made of the same dough used for lasagne, fry them and cover them in sugar. What a delicacy!

Recipe:

Ingredients:
500 grams all purpose flour
1 orange, to grate and squeeze
1 lemon, to grate and squeeze
1 espresso cup of seeds oil
100 grams caster sugar
2 eggs
3 tea spoons of baking powder
1 espresso cup of dry white wine
2 table spoons of Grappa Veneta (or rhum or brandy)

Preparation:
This procedure is really easy!
Put first all the liquid ingredients in a bowl (oil, wine, eggs, orange juice, etc.) then add all the dry ones (flour, sugar, etc.).
Create an homogeneous mix, then knead the dough using a rolling pin and then cut it in rectangles or diamonds (of 15x8 cm circa) and slightly cut the surface in the middle. Now fry them in boiling oil until golden, soak them with kitchen paper and sprinkle abundantly with icing sugar.
Enjoy!

Are you waiting for Spring? I say yes! Well, Spring is coming and brings new fresh, bright colors, sun, gardening, weddings, celebrations and spring cleaning.

Cooking with the crafters #9 - La dolcezza dei tartufi

[English version]

Finalmente un altro appuntamento con Cooking with the Crafters, questa volta un appuntamento molto molto calorico! :)) Come sapete i tartufi sono uno dei fiori all'occhiello del nostro paese, frutto delle nostre terre conociuto sin dall'antichità e ritenuto un potente afrodisiaco. Ed ecco che la nostra amica LazyFish ci ha preparato una ricetta facile facile, usando non il noto tubero ma l'altrettanto afrodisiaco cacao:

Tartufi al cacao e rum

Ingredienti:
° 100g di burro
° 100 di zucchero
° 250 di biscotti secchi
° 70g di cacao amaro
° 2 tuorli
° 6 cucchiai di rum.

Preparazione:
Tritate finemente i biscotti e mescolateli col burro ammorbidito (lasciandolo fuori dal frigo per un po' o fatto ammorbidire in microonde) - notare che non si deve squagliare, deve solo diventare più lavorabile.
Unire lo zucchero, il cacao, i tuorli e per ultimo il rum. Rimettete il tutto in frigo a recuperare la consistenza (15 minuti circa) dopodiché fate delle palline grandi come una piccola noce e rotolatele nel cacao. Disponetele in un bel vassoio e tenetele in frigo fino a un'oretta prima di servirle.
Hanno un miliardo di calorie, ma ne vale la pena!!!
